Royal Kente Mugs

ONUA presents to you the highly esteemed royal Kente collection where each mug has been silk printed with the beautiful Kente pattern before being hand gilded in ebony or gold. Kente, pronounced as 'Ken-tay', is a silk woven Ghanaian fabric created in the 17th century and was originally worn by royalty such as the Asantehene (The Ashanti King). Kente, which originates from the word ‘Kenten’, meaning basket, is hand woven with immaculate intricacy, precision and skill. The Kente cloth truly is a piece of art in itself and is produced in a variety of colours, designs and patterns, each with its own unique meaning. Over the centuries, this majestic fabric has found its way into many homes and hearts and is treasured by young and old.
